Karena Schroeder attended the University of Indianapolis for her Bachelor's in Biology and again for her Doctorate of Physical Therapy. She first became interested in physical therapy as a freshman in high school following her grandfather's stroke. After what seemed a miraculous recovery he would become tearful and say that he owed it to his physical therapists. Karena decided that was the type of impact she wanted to make on people's lives. She was able to utilize this further through her doctoral research which was presented at Combined Sections in Boston 2007 on the effects of botulinum toxin injections in the lower extremity of patients with chronic stroke combined with body weight supported treadmill training. She has a post graduate certification as a Maitland Trained Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist. Karena also is continuing her education and experience with myofascial release, vestibular rehab, and also enjoys a love for pediatric therapy, mainly for the treatment of torticollis. She loves what she does for a living and helping people in pain is a real passion of hers. She has been able to focus this energy into the treatments of headache and low back pain. She enjoys a challenge so she also enjoys treating complex pain through a variety of treatment approaches. She is currently the senior therapist at the Illinois Rd location and loves being able to get to know all of her patients on a personal level.
