  Troy graduated from Woodland High School in 1988 where he participated in football, basketball, and track. He then attended the University of Indianapolis where he participated in football and also served as a student Athletic Trainer. He completed undergraduate school with degrees in Biology and Chemistry and a minor in Athletic Training in June of 1992. Within that same month, Troy successfully passed the National Athletic Training certification examination on his 1st attempt and has remained in good standing with the National Athletic Trainer's Association (NATA) since that time, as well as maintaining his Indiana State Licensure for Athletic Training.

Troy started Graduate School for Physical Therapy at the Krannert School of Physical Therapy located within the University of Indianapolis during his senior year at the University of Indianapolis. He graduated with his Master's Degree in Physical Therapy in December of 1993, and has worked in Fort Wayne with Indiana Physical Therapy since January of 1994. He has been very active in the community by providing Outreach Athletic Training services to area high schools. He has also worked with USA Track and Field by providing Athletic Training coverage for both their Indoor and Outdoor National Championship meets held in Indianapolis. Troy was the guest "Expert" speaker for the youth clinics that coincided with the National Championship meets for USA Track and Field, speaking on injury prevention and performance enhancement related topics.

During Graduate Physical Therapy School, he worked on a research project that was published in the Journal of Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy in 1995.

Currently, his professional interests continue to emphasize Athletic and Sports Rehab. However, through significant continued study, he has developed proficiency in the treatment of more chronic conditions such as neck pain, back pain, and work related injuries.
