Working Conditions
Restoring range of motion, increasing strength, and
relieving pain may not be enough, in some cases, to
return an injured worker back to the job. There are
circumstances, such as when the individual has been
off work for an extended period of time, in which a
re-acclimation or re-conditioning period is needed to
return the person to work safely. In cases such as these,
Indiana Physical Therapy offers a work conditioning
program.
The work conditioning program starts with a thorough
individualized evaluation of the individual's fitness
level, strength, flexibility, as well as taking into
account the specific job demands the person is going
to perform. By establishing measurable, object goals,
IPT is able to progress the individual effectively by
taking into account the specific demands of their job.
The sessions typically last 90-120 minutes, on average
of 2-3 days per week of 3-4 weeks. or as directed by
the referring physician or case manager. Along with
the treatment progression, documentation of progress
is provided to the referring physician and case manager
on a weekly basis and even more frequently upon request.
With the main goal of returning the injured worker back
to the job safely and effectively; the strength, flexibility,
stamina, and knowledge in mechanics is necessary to
achieve that goal and that is exactly what is provided
in the work conditioning program at Indiana Physical
Therapy.
